Rapper Travis Scott is drawing major heat from the internet for continuing with his performance despite a stampede that reportedly left eight dead and hundreds injured at the rapper’s AstroWorld concert.
According to TMZ, the 30-year-old was performing at night one of his Astroworld concert when several uncontrollably excited fans while attempting to go near the stage got crushed by the footsteps of the overwhelmingly large crowd of 50,000 people.
Despite the horrific incident, Scott continued to perform for about 40 more minutes only to pause after witnessing the lights and sirens of an ambulance that had reached the event to see to the severity of the situation.
Clips from the event made rounds on social media and “Cancel Travis Scott” became a top Twitter hashtag. Many singled out the “Highest In The Room” rapper for allegedly causing the incident to go haywire.
Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner have both spoken out about this subject. They said that Scott was not involved about the severity of the situation until his show was over. He did stop his set a couple of times to get help for people he saw, but the chaos took place in front of him without him knowing what was really happening.
A visibly distraught Scott later took to Instagram to explain how he couldn’t realize the severity of the situation, saying he would’ve taken action sooner than later had he realized how far the situation had gone out of control.
