Emilio Estevez, who reprised the role of Gordon Bombay in the Disney reboot, “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” will not be returning for its second season.
Estevez has stated that his exit from the show was not caused by his refusal to comply with vaccination requirements on set. That being said, Estevez’s actual stance on vaccines is still unclear.
In a statement given to “Deadline,” Estevez claimed that his exit from the show is simply the result of a contract dispute.
In the final analysis, this was nothing more than a good old fashioned contract dispute and not, as some would believe an anti-vaccine position.
Estevez also clarified that “[he is] not anti-vaxx,” but also added that “simply put, [he is] anti-bully,” a statement that he seemed to be making in reference to “a myriad of creative differences.”
Estevez also reassured fans that “[he takes] this pandemic very seriously.” However, he did not reveal whether he has taken the vaccine. Estevez also expressed disappointment over his exit, but said it was “an honor and a thrill to be able to return as the iconic and beloved character, Gordon Bombay.”
