Travis Scott has been at the center of controversy following the tragedy at his recent set. In the wake of the incident, Fortnite has decided to remove the Travis Scott emote from its item shop.
Emotes are dance moves or other actions that players’ characters can perform in the online game. The Travis Scott emote contained an audio snippet from the rapper’s track “Out West.”
The company has also temporarily disabled the “Daily” section of the item shop. The Fortnite Twitter account put out a statement explaining this decision.
It’s known that the ‘Daily’ section of the Item Shop has been disabled. This is intentional and the ‘Daily’ section will return with the next Item Shop refresh.
Travis Scott has had a close association with Fortnite, hosting a virtual concert through an in-game avatar last April. The event had attracted more than 12 million players at the time.
It is yet to be seen if the emote will return to the game. At the moment, the world is still in the process of recovering from the tragedy. Check out the tweet from the Fortnite account below.
