Ingo Rademacher has played Jasper “Jax” Jacks on ABC’s hit daytime soap opera General Hospital since 1996. He’s recently become notable for more than his acting chops. His anti-vaccine stance has earned him well-deserved public scrutiny. Now, he can add transphobia to his growing list of undesirable traits.
Rademacher made a double whammy of an Instagram post, as he not only continued to spread false and harmful anti-vaccination propaganda, he also misgendered U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine. Dr. Levine is a transgender woman. His castmates lashed out at him on social media in the aftermath of the post.
Cassandra James, who herself is trans, blasted the General Hospital star for his comment. Long-time GH star Nancy Lee Grahn also took him to task. James’ verbal evisceration of Rademacher was particularly harsh.
“I am aware of a transphobic post shared by a fellow General Hospital actor. Shame on you. You have some serious unlearning and education to do. I feel deeply disappointed that such a public display of ignorance could come from our GH family.
Misgendering trans folks is violence and if you come for one of us, you come for all of us. The cis world doesn’t get to decide which of us is valuable. I am so proud of the fans for always holding us to a high standard, for calling out transphobia and violence.”
According to a story on Soap Opera Network, Rademacher has not been welcome on the set since a vaccine mandate took effect on November 1, 2021. The news was revealed by Grahn, who said he was no longer a part of General Hospital in a tweet. There is no word on if he will return to the show in the future. Ingo Rademacher joins a growing group of celebrities getting in trouble for their unscientific views, along with Aaron Rodgers.
