Khabib Nurmagomedov will forever be regarded as one of the best UFC fighters to have competed in the MMA world. He ended his MMA career for good back in March and since then has been enjoying his life in retirement. Khabib also admitted he could never be on Mike Tyson’s level. It seems Jon Jones has an interesting opinion about Khabib.
There was a lot of speculation regarding him returning to the UFC as he was still undefeated, with many believing he would come back to make his record an impressive 30-0. However, Dana White had confirmed back in March that the Russian fighter has retired for good.
On the other hand, Jon Jones is considered one of the best fighters in the history of the UFC for many fans. For the past few months, Jones had made it his life’s mission to go after Francis Ngannou’s UFC Heavyweight Championship.
Jon Jones took to Twitter and replied to a fan who wanted him to accept Nurmagomedov is the greatest fighter of all time. Jones replied that he wished Khabib stayed active instead of retiring so early, seemingly implying he doesn’t agree with Khabib being called the GOAT.
“I really wish he would’ve stuck around long enough to prove that but OK maybe you’re right. He’s the goat.”
Khabib had previously stated that he has no interest in continuing his career for money fights. Since his retirement, he has been focused on Eagle Fighting Championship. However, it is to be noted that Khabib does miss fighting in the UFC as well.
