The Expendables film franchise got its start almost twelve years ago in 2010 and with that first installment, it re-launched the dying breed genre of action heroes, the type of action heroes fans were used to in the eighties and early nineties. Well, the fourth installment is filming right now, and 50 Cent is in it along with a bunch of new actors (Andy Garcia, Megan Fox, etc.) and he just shared some photos of him in gear and on set.

The Expendables seemingly relaunched the careers, or rather mainstream careers, of stars like Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme and so many others whose careers had turned to less popular or rather less mainstream fare after the explosive films of the nineties went the way of vinyl records and eight track tapes.

These films reignited that flame that the actors themselves had, and the overall interest from the audience. The film was the brainchild of Sylvester Stallone, he penning that first script – directing the first film as well – he eventually passing on the creative torch. But with every installment, he blended the old with a little of the new, each film bringing with it new stars as well as older fan favorites, such as himself.

50 released a bunch of tweets on his feed, the narrative quite interesting and a tad out of context it would seem for now, but the photo is sure to cause some excitement for Expendables fans:

“I’m from South Side we always got something to prove. a lot of people know i’m good at what i do. i’m disciplined, so everybody will know i’m great soon. Green Light Gang”

“Yo this is my Movie everybody else just in it. Green Light Gang it’s lit..”

“WAR what is it good for, absolutely nothing but n!66a’s keep fronting, fuck it then live like solider and die like solider WAR.”

This time out, Stallone made news, stating that after this fourth installment, he’d be done with the series, passing on the torch to Jason Statham, but it’s still making news, and with the likes of 50 Cent, who also starred with Stallone in the Escape Plan trilogy, making a buzz, there’s no stopping this film from doing well and perhaps launching a plethora of sequels.
