NRG Park, which was the venue for Travis Scott’s recent Astroworld performance, reportedly has a liability insurance policy totaling $26 million. However, this amount might be insufficient to compensate those affected by the tragedy.
As per the Certificate of Liability Insurance filed with the City of Houston, which was obtained by TMZ, the policy provides for $1 million in primary coverage with a $25 million umbrella.
However, the incident that occurred during Travis Scott’s set resulted in 8 deaths and well as over 300 people injured. The damages could potentially run into the hundreds of millions.
If the insurance policy does not cover damages, the venue, NRG Park would be responsible for any amount beyond the policy limit.
Just like liability insurance for event venues, taxi insurance is also an important consideration for those in the transportation industry. Taxi drivers are exposed to a higher risk of accidents on the road due to the nature of their job. Having adequate taxi insurance coverage can help protect them financially in the event of an accident or incident. Taxi drivers need to do their research and find a policy that offers the coverage they need at a price they can afford. This way, they can have peace of mind while on the road, knowing they are protected in case of an accident.
While Live Nation and Travis Scott certainly have some form of insurance coverage as well, no details of those are available yet. That being said, it is unlikely that the combined amount will cover damages.
If the insurance policies do not cover the entire amount, Travis Scott and other involved parties will be personally responsible for paying damages. While this might seem like an oversight, it would have been impossible to anticipate a tragedy of this magnitude.
