Will Smith recently released a tell-all memoir called “Will.” The 53-year-old actor and rapper shared a lot of personal secrets in the book. Smith shared his recollection of an on-set crush he had during the filming of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Karen Parsons played Will’s stuck-up cousin Hilary Banks on the long-running sitcom. He said that Parsons wasn’t interested in his advances. In retrospect, Smith believes it was the right decision.
“She was smart enough to tell me ‘hell no’ when I tried to explain we were not really cousins, so it would be fine if we dated. [I said], ‘I swear it won’t mess up our working relationship.’ She knew better than that – good call, K.P.”
Will Smith would eventually get over the crush and go on to marry wife Jada Pinkett Smith. He described that relationship in an interview with Oprah Winfrey for Apple TV+. He said that he was willing to die trying to please her early in their relationship.
“We drank every day, and had sex multiple times every day, for four straight months… I started to wonder if this was a competition. Either way, as far as I was concerned, there were only two possibilities: (1) I was going to satisfy this woman sexually, or (2) I was going to die trying.”
It ended up being a lot more complex than that. Those early days were spectacular. Me and Jada, to this day, if we start talking, it’s four hours. It’s four hours if we exchange a sentence… (Our talks) are the center of why we’ve been able to sustain and why we’re still together, not choking the life out of each other.”
Will Smith is currently doing of a live tour to promote the book. He’s got dates set for November 11 in Los Angeles and November 18 in London. Smith also stars in the upcoming film Emancipation, which will be distributed by Apple TV+. Fans of Big Willie Style will have plenty of things to get jiggy with in the coming months.
