Ye has dedicated a whole album to his Mom among many other projects. The rapper took to his newly made Instagram to share an adorable photo of him as an infant in his mom’s arms.
Ye and his mom shared a very close relationship together. Unfortunately Donda West passed away on the 10th of November 2007. Donda’s heart attack came one day after she underwent liposuction, breast reduction and tummy tuck procedures, performed by Dr. Jan Adams.
The photo came as a tribute on his mom’s death anniversary. Ye previously opened up about the memories shared with his beloved mother on Letterman. Kanye West has been dedicating music to his mom even before his mom’s passing though.
The song “Hey Mama” is a ballad dedicated to Kanye West’s mom Donda West and was written in 2000. It later appeared in its final version on Kanye’s 2005 album Late Registration.
Donda West helped support Ye dreams of creating music, following on from him dropping out of college completely. Donda had been aware of Kanye’s musical talents for a long time, having accepted his offer for an hour of studio time when he was 13 years old. Donda believed in Kanye before he had millions of fans raging for him or any money of his own.
Speaking of Donda’s involvement in his career, Ye said she “always kept me around music” and “was also my first manager”. Donda is surely looking at Ye from the heavens and is proud of him.
