Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round of his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier. Since then McGregor has been on a path of destruction that resulted in McGregor saying a lot of controversial remarks. It seems Dana White shot down the idea of a fight for McGregor.
Recently UFC star Max Holloway stated that he is on the shortlist to become Conor McGregor’s next opponent when he makes his return to the UFC. This was said before Holloway’s fight against #3 ranked Yair Rodriguez.
Holloway, who is ranked No. 1 at featherweight, faced off against Yair Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 197. He won the fight by unanimous decision. After that many fans wondered whether he will fight Conor McGregor next.
While speaking during the post-UFC Fight Night 197 press conference, UFC President Dana White talked about Holloway’s next opponent. White shot down the idea of McGregor and Holloway squaring off against each other.
“I don’t know what’s next for Max, but it does make sense to see him and Volkanovski again. Conor’s not even – Conor’s still hurt. To even talk about Conor is silly.”
We will have to wait and see what shape Conor McGregor will be in once he returns to the Octagon. McGregor is expected to be out of action for a year as he is set on returning as soon as possible.
