Soulja Boy recently took to Twitter to debunk a claim made by fellow Lil Yachty. For those who don’t know, Yachty collaborated with director Cole Bennet to shoot the video for his “Yae Energy” music video.
Also, the entire track was shot on an iPhone. The 24-year-old later posted a tweet in which he said that he is the “first signed rapper to shoot a video fully on the iPhone.”
Soulja Boy, however, took exception to the claim. He replied to the tweet with a tweet of his own. He told the “One Night” singer that he had achieved the same feat long before Yachty was ever signed to a major label
There’s no denying that many artists have shot their music videos on an iPhone, which is know for its tremendous video-shooting capabilities, but Yachty does have a point when he says that he’s the first signed to record a track on an iPhone.
“You late. I been did that before you even got signed,” Big Draco fired back with a LOL emoji. You can’t knock Solider Boy off his throne, because he is the king of firsts in rap music, for sure. On that note, Soulja Boy Tell Em was also the first rapper to carry an iPhone.
The video song in question is produced by Buddah Bless. A snippet of Yachty and Bennett discussing the collaboration on facetime previously found its way to social media.
