Nick Diaz is a true veteran in the MMA world and has not competed inside the Octagon for many years. Fans for a long time wondered if he would ever return to the Octagon. It seems Jorge Masvidal is really worried about Nick Diaz as well.
Their questions were answered as it was previously announced that Nick Diaz will be squaring off against Robbie Lawler for his return fight. Dana White even compared Nick Diaz to Mike Tyson before his fight.
Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz put on a terrific bout as they chose to trade shots and make it as physical a fight as possible. In the end, Robbie Lawler eventually overwhelmed Nick Diaz and hit him with a right hook that sent him crashing to the canvas in the third round.
While speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Jorge Masvidal expressed his concern for Nick Diaz’s wellbeing. Masvidal said that he is worried Diaz will get hurt in his future fights.
“[It was] not the Nick Diaz that I’m accustomed to, obviously,” Masvidal told Helwani. “I was fighting alongside Nick when he was in Strikeforce and I was in Strikeforce, so I knew a very different Nick Diaz. I don’t want to see the guy get hurt, man. I would love to see him in peak shape, go in there and fuck some people up, but I don’t know how much of a reality that is now after seeing his last performance. I want to see him not get hurt. And if he does go back in there, I want to see him as close as we can to his old self. I don’t think his last performance, we got to see that.”
Jorge Masvidal also previously stated that a fight against Nick Diaz would be a blessing for him. Nick Diaz had said that he will come right back to MMA should he lose to Robbie Lawler, so it remains to be seen when Nick Diaz will make his return to the MMA world.
