Snoop Dogg recently talked about how his massive Super Bowl halftime performance with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige came together. He said negotiations started with Dre, who then developed the idea further. Snoop said Dr. Dre is at the center of the show.
Talking to the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, Snoop said Dre would be the man when it comes to the halftime performance. The rest of the legendary crew are there to have his back.
“It’s going to be a Dr. Dre presentation. We are basically assisting him, we are having his back. Coming to like his soldiers are supposed to. Soldiers line up when the general says to line up.”
The Doggfather also implied (but didn’t outwardly state) he’s going to be there for Dre when he drops new music, too. He says Dr. Dre is in the studio working on new music and that some of it will come out through the video game Grand Theft Auto. He then said he’s a part of at least that part of things.
“You know Dr. Dre. I tell you the album is coming out, and three years later, we will be talking about this sh*t, like, “Is it coming out?” I don’t know! But I do know he’s in the studio, I do know he’s making great f*cking music. I think some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. That will be the way that his music will be released through the GTA video game. Am I part of that? Oh, yeah.”
Fans are excited to check out whatever it is that Snoop and his mentor come up with in Dr. Dre’s lab. The two have a long history together and they know what to expect of each other. You can listen to Snoop’s full Rolling Stone interview below!
