Sylvester Stallone recently delighted MCU fans by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of himself as Stakar Ogord. This officially confirms speculation that he would be returning to the role. The bit was teased originally in a post-credits scene from Guardians Vol. 2, showing the character gearing up for an as-yet-unknown mission.
Work on the third installment in the Guardians series has been frustratingly slow. After James Gunn was fired and then rehired, the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, causing universal delays on all Hollywood projects. Sly shared the sneak-peek on his Instagram.
“Yes what’s coming your way? Keep Your guard up! #guardiansofthegalaxyvol3”
Sly also worked with Gunn in The Suicide Squad, where he portrayed King Shark alongside John Cena and Margot Robbie. He is one of a small selection of actors who has portrayed a character in both the MCU and the DC Extended Universe. The film legend shows no signs of slowing down.
James Gunn has previously teased that there could be multiple deaths in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. That could lead to several interesting possibilities for Stallone’s Stakar Ogord character. It may even lead to changes or a complete reboot of the popular superhero team’s lineup.
Sylvester Stallone is still kicking ass at the age of 75. He recently talked about how he nearly died because of a punch he took on the set of Rocky IV. Fortunately, he survived and recovered and can continue to treat fans to fun performances well into his golden years.
