Andrew Garfield is again denying gossip that he will be in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. With the second trailer set to drop today, fans are expecting huge surprises. The most prevalent rumor says that Garfield will be in the movie along with Tobey Maguire to team up with Tom Holland for a super Spidey team.
Garfield appeared on The Today Show and once again publicly squashed the rumors. He said that he knows most people won’t believe him, but that he’s standing by his word. He’s as clueless about the plot of the film as any fan.
“Listen, I’m not in the film. I love Spider-Man, I always have. I was so happy to have played the part, and I’m so excited to see what they do with the third one, just like you guys are, to be honest. No, that’s not a diplomatic answer. I really, really mean it.
I love Tom Holland. I love Jon Watts. I love Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige and what they’ve done with those movies and that character. It’s an important character to me. So I’m just really excited to see what happens in the third one, as you guys are.”
That’s another direct denial, but it’s probably not enough to convince MCU fans. Most believe that the possibility for Andrew Garfield not being in the movie is even smaller than the possibility that he is. Despite his insistence, the going belief is that Garfield is in the movie.
Perhaps today’s new trailer will shed more light on the matter. The alternative Spider-Men weren’t shown in the original trailer. Their existence was, however, heavily implied by appearances from Spider-Man 2’s Doctor Octopus and Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
