Halle Berry‘s performance in 2004’s Catwoman was not well-received by critics or movie fans. After becoming the first woman of color to win Best Actress at the Oscars (for 2001’s Monster’s Ball), Berry completed the rare feat of also winning a Razzie. Her role in Catwoman was considered the worst of the year.

Berry talked to “Jakes Takes” recently about the colossal failure of the movie, which lost $20 million. Halle said if she could return to any of her previous projects, she said it would be Catwoman. Berry says she’d like to reimagine the story and direct it herself.

“I would love to direct ‘Catwoman. If I can get ahold of that now, knowing what I know, having had this experience, and reimagine that world the way I reimagined this story … ‘Bruised’ was written for a white, Irish Catholic, 25-year-old girl, and I got to reimagine it.

I wish I could go back and reimagine Catwoman’ and redo that. Have a redo on that, now knowing what I know,” she said, referring to her new gig as director.

I would have ‘Catwoman’ saving the world like most male superheroes do, and not just saving women from their faces cracking off. I would make the stakes a lot higher, and I think make it more inclusive of both men and women.”

Catwoman was most recently portrayed by fellow Oscar winner Anne Hathaway in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Zoe Kravitz will take on the role opposite Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader in “The Batman.” Halle Berry will have to wait her turn to get another crack at the role.
