Post Malone just dropped some serious cash for Bored Ape Yacht Club. NFTs are rapidly making their way into Hip Hop, and rappers are investing in wherever they can to double up on their money.
BAYC is a collection of 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs—unique digital collectibles living on the Ethereum blockchain. The primate avatars developed by Yuga Labs have generated around $1 billion worth of trading volume. Lil Baby, Steph Curry, Waka Flocka Flame and Von Miller are among the apeholder celebrities.
Each Bored Ape avatar is unique and programmatically generated from over 170 possible traits, including expression, accessories and more. Purchasing an ape costs 0.08 ETH. You can see one of Posty’s Apes as his twitter avatar.
On Sunday (November 14), MoonPay shared a video on their TikTok of their latest artist partnership. In the TikTok clip, Post Malone is purchasing two Bored Ape NFTs saying his friends are going “to freak out” because they love everything about non-fungible tokens.
Posty purchased Bored Ape #961 and #9039 for a combined total of 160 ETH (Ethereum). These are some of the rare Apes. As of now, 1 ETH equals $4,689.03, which means the “Rockstar” rapper dropped a total of $734,401.60 on the two Bored Apes.
If any of this sounds familiar, Lil Baby purchased a Bored Ape earlier this month. Lil Baby bought Bored Ape #129 on the NFT marketplace OpenSea for 37.99 ETH, which equates to approximately $171,794 at the time.
