The Kyle Rittenhouse trial is certainly one of the most talked-about and high-profile trials right now. Despite all of his offences, he still has his supporters for some reason. It seems Jacob Black has an interesting take on Rittenhouse’s case.
For those who don’t know, Rittenhouse shot three men during demonstrations in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020. This resulted in two deaths and one of them was injured. According to the New York Times, the teenager faces six counts, including charges of first-degree intentional homicide.
While speaking to TMZ, Jacob Blake stated that race definitely has a role to play in Rttenhouse’s ongoing trial. Black is the man whose police-involved shooting sparked the Kenosha protests where Rittenhouse opened fire. Blake said that if Rittenhouse was not white, he would have been in jail by now.
Blake would then elaborate on his point as to why he thinks race is a factor. Blake pointed to the now-infamous photo of Rittenhouse posing with guys in a bar after bond and then supposedly flashing a white supremacy sign.
Blake said that Rittenhouse’s entire situation and the destruction in Kenosha is simply an unfortunate byproduct of what he considers the larger, unresolved, issues between police and people of color. Blake also hopes that people will refrain from more rioting.
