Kim Kardashian is following the footsteps of her father, Robert Kardashian. She has used her influence and lobbying to halt Julius Jones’ execution.
She has been advocating for prison reform for a long time now. She brought nationwide attention to Julius’ case in March 2021, calling it a “tragic miscarriage of justice”. She pleaded to Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt to grant Julius Jones Clemency / Life w. the possibility of parole.
Julius Jones was scheduled to be executed on November 18th. He’s been in prison for nearly 20 years after a conviction for the fatal shooting of Paul Howell in a botched 1999 carjacking. He was sentenced to die for his role in the crimes, although Jones maintains his innocence.
Kim believes that Julius was framed and the state of Oklahoma has compelling evidence of Julius Jones’ innocence. Meanwhile, the real killer is free and “openly bragging about killing a man” Kim asserted.
Jones’ family says Kim’s tireless lobbying and influence have been invaluable. Kim’s efforts have finally paid off. Just hours before the planned execution Governor Stintt commuted Jones’ death sentence to life in prison without parole following “prayerful consideration and reviewing materials presented by all sides of this case.”
Kim took to twitter to thank the governor and share the news with the followers: “so grateful to everyone who used their voice and helped to save Julius’s life today. Thank you to the parole board and Governor Stitt”.
