Method Man is an icon from the East Coast hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He is also half of the hip-hop duo Method Man & Redman. He took his stage name from the 1979 film Method Man.

The Wu-Tang Clan MC is featured in Cent’s Power Book II: Ghost. He was able to reunite with Mary J. Blige through the singer’s role as drug cartel queen-pin Monet Stewart Tejada. In his recent interview with the Metro, the legendary Wu-Tang Clan MC revealed he thinks 50 Cent’s STARZ series was created with her in mind.

Method pointed out how Mary brought a big audience with her and the team knew what they were doing. He continued, “Mary was a fan of this show and I think this show was written exclusively for her, especially with the Monet character which I think she is brilliant at. I love seeing Mary outside of her comfort zone as far as being on-stage and singing and all that. She’s been getting her feet wet in this acting game and there’s only room for improvement and she has all my support.”

Method Man also thinks that Mary’s not regular at all, in fact, she’s more real. Speaking to AllHipHop, Method Man talked about his success run with Mary J. Blige in recording music and now acting alongside her as lawyer Davis MacLean. He added, “This is our royalty regardless of how anyone else feels about her, Mary is our royalty and we’re not going to let anyone tarnish this brand. She’s bringing it this season – I just wish she’d hug her kids [laughs] but in the business she’s in, she can’t be soft at all, it’s got to be tough love all around the board and she’s killing it.”

Previously, Method Man and Mary J. Blige collaborated on “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By” off the New York MC’s debut album Tical in 1995. Peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, their interpolation of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s classic won the 1996 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The pair also teamed up on “Love @ 1st Sight” off Mary J. Blige’s 2003 album, Love & Life.

The American rapper thinks there’s no feeling like that in the world to be doing something alongside someone for so long and to still reap the benefits of their work. He said. “I won a Grammy in ‘95 with Mary J. Blige for music. And then, I won an NAACP Award with Mary J. Blige for acting. It gets no better than that.” Mary also finds it as a blessing to be working with Method Man. She added in a separate interview, “It’s amazing, and it’s a blessing. All pure. Blessings. It’s all God. It’s a lot of hard work and it’s a lot of being grateful, being grateful more than anything.”
