Taylor Swift‘s latest album, a re-recording of 2012’s “Red,” has hit #1 on the Billboard 200. That makes ten consecutive chart toppers for T-Swift. The achievement puts Taylor in some elite company in the music industry.
Swift‘s 10 #1 albums ties Kanye West and Eminem, who both joined the club in the last year with “Music To Be Murdered By” and “Donda,” respectively. Taylor became the fastest female artist in United States history to reach the milestone. “Red (Taylor’s Version)” moved 605,000 album equivalents, according to @chartdata.
The album was the second biggest US debut of the year, behind Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” but ahead of Donda and Eminem. Taylor Swift, Eminem, and Kanye all reached their 10th #1 on the heels of three consecutive #1 debuts. The trio are among the best-selling artists in music today, hands down.
Taylor Swift’s “evermore” took home the Favorite Pop Album and Favorite Female Pop Artist at last night’s American Music Awards. She accepted the awards virtually. She said she’s extremely proud of her new albums.
“Thank you so much to the fans, this is such an amazing honor. The fact that you would do this for evermore, I’ve always been so proud of this album. I’ve always looked at evermore as sort of Folklore‘s adventurous, fun younger sister. So, thank you so much for doing this.”
In addition to the new work, Taylor continues to re-record her back catalog over a rights dispute over her original masters. With each new release, she’ll likely add to her record. Kanye and Eminem better hit the studio if they want to keep up with Taylor Swift.
