Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is being fined $15,000 for making an “obscene gesture.” The incident took place during Los Angeles Lakers vs Indiana Pacers during a Wednesday game. NBA decide to fine the star player for the same on Friday, two days afterward.
The incident occured just days after James was suspended for an on-court fight with Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart. While trying to secure a position for a rebound, Stewart pushed James. The Lakers player swung his arm, striking Stewart and bloodying his eye. It was the first game James played following his one-game suspension on Sunday.
The new scene happened during the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ game against the Pacers with only one minute and 17 seconds left. James pulled out a celebration commonly credited to Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Sam Cassell. James did the same after hitting a clutch three against Indiana. The NBA has released an official statement on the matter.
“Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has been fined $15,000 for making an obscene gesture on the playing court and warned for using profane language during media availability in response to league imposed discipline, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations. The incident occurred with 1:17 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 124-116 overtime win against the Indiana Pacers on Nov. 24 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.”
