Tiger Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time. In an exclusive interview with Golf Digest, the athlete spoke publicly about his golfing future for the first time since his car crash earlier this year.
On February 23, 2021, Woods was involved in a serious rollover car accident in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The wreck was a single-vehicle collision and Woods was the sole occupant of the vehicle. It was reported that he sustained broken bones in both of his legs and “compound fractures”.
Tiger Woods has been dating Erica Herman since late 2017. He admitted that Erica played a vital role in his recovery from a brutal car accident. However, there’s still a long way to go as he has still not completely recovered. “Once [I knew I was keeping it], I wanted to test and see if I still had my hands. So even in the hospital, I would have Erica and [my friend] Rob [McNamara] throw me something. Throw me anything.” Tiger admitted.
Fans were very excited to see the pro athlete back on the course after he posted his Nov. 21 video “Making progress”, but a major return is highly unlikely. Woods mentioned that he will never play full-time Golf again. An unfortunate reality that we all should accept.
“I think something that is realistic is playing the tour one day,” Tiger confirmed. “Never full time, ever again. But pick and choose, just like [Ben] Hogan did. Pick and choose a few events a year and you play around that. You practice around that, and you gear yourself up for that. I think that’s how I’m going to have to play it from now on. It’s an unfortunate reality, but it’s my reality, and I accept it.” Woods observed.
Tiger Woods had an incredible career, but his days as a full-time pro golfer are over. At least we can be happy for him as it seems he was able to get through a very difficult time in his life that ended it all prematurely.
