Ari Lennox was arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport Monday, Nov. 29, with the singer claiming she was reacting to being racially profiled. The Dutch military police disagree with Ari’s claim.
Dutch military police, who are in charge of security at Schiphol airport, said Lennox was held because of her alleged aggressive behavior towards an airline official, and for allegedly being drunk in public.
“Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn’t calm down,” spokesman Robert van Kapel said. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”
Ari Lennox is an RnB singer. She best known for her 2019 single Shea Butter Baby, which has been streamed more than 114 million times on Spotify. The spokesman gave no information on when Lennox may be released. Authorities are investigating into whether Lennox made any threats during the incident.
Lennox shared her version of the situation in real-time on Twitter: “F*** Amsterdam security,” she wrote. “They hate black people.” Later, she wrote, “They’re arresting me.” And finally, “I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me.”
