Otis Anderson Jr. was a standout athlete during his time at the University of Central Florida. He finished his collegiate career with 2,182 rushing yards, 3,708 all-purpose yards, and 27 total touchdowns for the Knights. He’s considered one of the finest athletes in the history of the school.
On Monday night, tragedy struck this promising young man. After getting into an argument with his father, Otis Anderson Sr. over a dog bite, the younger Anderson was shot and killed. TMZ Sports obtained police documents that told the horrific story.
According to Anderson’s mother, Denise, Otis Jr.’s girlfriend’s dog bit Otis Sr. The bite drew blood, leading to an intense argument. Ultimately, the father shot and killed his own son.
The two were initially separated. Otis Jr. was sent upstairs to cool down. Denise got into an argument with Otis Sr., causing him to lose his cool. He turned over a recliner in the heat of the moment.
Otis Jr. came downstairs to check on his mother. Another verbal altercation broke out. It’s unclear what happened after that, but when police arrived, they found Otis Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Denise also suffered grazing wounds from the gunfire.
Otis Anderson Sr. was arrested at the scene. He’s been booked on charges of murder and attempted murder. The UCF and NFL community came together to mourn the loss of Otis Anderson Jr. He was cut earlier this year by the Los Angeles Rams and may have had a future in the league. He was only 23 years old.
