A judge Tuesday reset the date for prosecutors to take up Jon Jones domestic violence case, according to MMA Junkie. The January hearing will decide whether the former UFC champion will face criminals charges in the wake of his September arrest.
Police arrested the 34-year-old on September 24 following allegations he assaulted his fiancée in front of their children and damaged a patrol vehicle after smashing his own head on the hood of the car.
The incident reportedly took place outside Caesars Palace in the wee hours of Friday (Sept. 24). Jones was arrested following the incident by the Las Vegas police. He was later released after posting an $8,000 bail.
Neither Jones nor his legal team attended the hearing Tuesday, which saw the judge push back the date for prosecutors to debate whether he’ll face punishment for the Sept. 24 incident.
A resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the former two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion was spotted at a UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony the night before his arrest.
