Khabib Nurmagomedov will forever be considered as one of the best UFC fighters to have competed in the MMA world. He ended his MMA career for good back in March and since then has been enjoying his life in retirement. Khabib also admitted he could never be on Mike Tyson’s level. It seems he also explained why he’ll never come back to MMA.
There was a lot of speculation regarding him returning to the UFC as he was still undefeated, with many believing he would come back to make his record an impressive 30-0. However, Dana White had confirmed back in March that the Russian fighter has retired for good.
There are many who still consider Khabib the greatest of all time, but there are also other MMA fighters who do not necessarily agree with that notion. Colby Covington also said Khabib is overrated recently.
While speaking with ESPN MMA, Khabib Nurmagomedov claimed that he has enough money now and has no desire to get back to MMA, which he spent more than 30 years of his life on.
“It was like one year ago. Yeah, they told me. It was like Dana told Ali ‘Why Khabib never asked me how much money I’m gonna give?’ You know. It was very interesting and sometimes I told people don’t understand myself because of I don’t know why. Of course, everybody love money. Money is very important but for myself this is not everything. I have money, I’m good you know. If God give me time to spend my money, it’s gonna be good for me… With the sport I am finished. Now, I have my life. I was living the last 32, 33 years inside the cage. Right now I’m free and I want to live like regular people. Honestly, it’s a little bit weird.”
Khabib had previously stated that he has no interest in continuing his career for money fights. Since his retirement, he has been focused on Eagle Fighting Championship. However, it must not be forgotten that Khabib does miss fighting in the UFC as well.
