Marcell Ozuna is facing some very deep trouble. The Atlanta Braves outfielder, known as “The Big Bear,” was recently arrested after a domestic assault incident He was arrested and placed administrative leave by the Braves. He missed out on the opportunity to win the World Series.
Now, TMZ Sports has obtained disturbing police footage of the assault in Sandy Springs, GA. Bodycam footage from a responding officer shows that as police arrived, Ozuna grabbed his wife around the neck with his hand. The officer immediately orders Marcell to the ground.
“Get your hands off her! Get on the ground! Get on the ground!”
Ozuna’s wife told police the altercation stemmed from allegations of cheating. He was originally given felony charges for the attack. Eventually, his charges were reduced to misdemeanors. Ozuna agreed to a diversion program to keep the case out of the courts.
He was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and take an anger management class. Ozuna also was sentenced to six months supervised probation. His baseball career was put on hold, as well.
Ozuna was slapped with a 20-game suspension for his actions. The punishment was retroactive. Since he wasn’t playing, the suspension is already considered served. He will be eligible for opening day for the 2022 Braves.
