Eminem appeared in a very famous music video before he ever even had one of his own played by MTV. Much like Lady Gaga’s pre-fame cameo in The Sopranos, Marshall showed up ever-so-briefly in a legendary clip from the late 90’s.

Slim Shady was an extra during the shooting of Korn’s monumental “Got the Life” video. Noisecreep caught the brief appearance. Korn guitarist Munky talked about the impression the young Eminem made on him during the shoot.

“There were some extras on the set of our video ‘Got the Life.’ Some kid came up to me and gave me his demo. I was really drunk and I was like [out of it]. He’s like, ‘Hey, check it out, I’m a rapper.’ I’m like, ‘I’m just a guitar player.’ It turned out that kid that was on our video was Eminem. He was an extra in that video. I vaguely remember that happening.”

Several other celebrities made appearances in the video for “Got the Life.” Fred Durst, West Borland, and Sam Rivers of Limp Bizkit were there. So was Orgy’s Jay Gordon and UFC legend Tito Ortiz.

Years later, Eminem is one of the most successful rappers of all time. Young Marshall was obviously hustling for his big break. It wasn’t long after his appearance in the Korn video that he reached mainstream success.

Eminem’s “Slim Shady EP” came out in February of 1999. The Korn clip was released the previous year. The once-obscure music video extra has gone on to sell over 220 million records worldwide.
