LeBron James is taking heat from another NBA star for alleged ties with China. Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter Freedom says LeBron’s partnership with Nike and their relationship with China don’t meet moral standards.

Freedom told Jared Weiss of The Athletic the reasons he’s been so vocal in his criticism of LeBron. He said it’s not about money, it’s about principle. LeBron seems to only think about the almighty dollar.

“I don’t know if he’s educated enough, but I’m here to educate him and I’m here to help him, because it’s not about money. It’s about morals, principles and values. It’s about what you stand for. There are way bigger things than money.

If LeBron stopped making money now, his grandkids and grandkids and grandkids can have the best life ever. I feel like it’s definitely time for athletes to stand up for the things they believe in — not just in America — but all over the world.”

Freedom changed his name legally this week. His former last name was Kanter. After he gained US citizenship, he made the change.

“I wanted to make that word part of me, because that (is) the word that I fought for my whole life. That (is) the word that I try to stand up (for) my whole life.”

Enes’ fondness for the American way of life is obvious. He chose this as his home and even changed his name to Freedom. If anybody would be passionate about not giving in to China, it’s him.
