Trevor Noah has caused an uproar among fans of “The Daily Show” after his controversial remarks about vaccine maker Moderna. He criticized CEO Stephanie Bancel, who said that the Moderna shot will stand up well against the new Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. Noah questioned the believability of a man who stood to profit from the medicine.
Viewers didn’t react well to Noah’s comments. He questioned the sincerity of a man who stood to earn millions if his vaccine did well. In the clip shared to the show’s social media, Trevor Noah held nothing back.
“On the one hand, almost all the Omicron cases have been mild so far. But on the other hand, the guy who stands to gain millions of dollars from new vaccines says we need new vaccines, huh?”
If we don’t make a new vaccine, this disease could be with us Ferrari … I mean ‘forever.’ Sorry, I was thinking of something else.”
Queens-based political activist and social media influencer Rafael Shimunov responded to Noah’s statements. He wanted to make sure that anti-vaccine people didn’t take it the wrong way. He said you can both criticize big pharma and understand that vaccines are safe and effective.
“To all the covidiots who think this means Trevor Noah has joined your death cult: you can be suspicious of Big Pharma AND believe in vaccines and science just like you can be suspicious of Big Tech while using your phone to read this.”
Thus far, cases of the new COVID variant have mostly resulted in mild illness. Despite this, it is listed by the WHO as a variant of concern. It has been detected in thirty countries so far. The scientists are still waiting for the final data on the effectiveness of all the vaccines against the variant.
