Chris Cuomo had been suspended from CNN at the end of November. Details had surfaced about Cuomo’s involvement in trying to use his industry contacts to aid his brother Andrew Cuomo in his sexual harassment case. At first he was under pending investigation, but in light of new evidence, Cuomo has been fired from CNN.
The former Cuomo Prime Time host was fired after CNN took to Twitter to release the press release. The release stated that while Cuomo had already admitted that he guided Andrew’s team, his actions were a violation and he had to be terminated from the company.
Cuomo has come out to give his own views regarding his termination. He took to Twitter to comment on the press release that CNN had released earlier. Cuomo expressed sadness over not expecting the firing to occur.
However, he thanked everyone that worked with him at Cuomo Prime Time. He said that everyone worked to make the show great as it was one in CNN’s most competitive time slot, and they always delivered.
This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother. So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot. I owe them all and will miss that group of special people who did really important work.
Cuomo might be taking the firing in the best way possible, but his actions are still under the investigation by CNN. Even though Cuomo only wanted to help his brother, his actions land him in a world of trouble.
