Disney has removed a promotional video for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel after fan bashlash over the clip. The hotel, which opens in March of 2022 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, is Disney’s next attempt to cash in on their acquisition of the lucrative Star Wars franchise. The hotel has been in the works since at least 2018.

According to Screen Rant, fans reacted poorly to the announcement of the hotel’s high prices. A two day stay costs upwards of $5,000 for just two guests. After the promo video was posted, fans said the hotel looked cheap. They also gutted Disney for not including someone from Star Wars in the video.

Disney has now deleted the controversial video from YouTube and Twitter. The company has not addressed why the promo was removed. Fans are jumping to the conclusion that the negative response caused the company to take it down.

Fans nit-picked everything about the promotional video for the Star Wars hotel. They said the video had a weak script and was poorly performed. They said the concept would work better for a restaurant than a hotel.

Despite the poor fan reaction, the Galactic Starcruiser hotel is booked solid for its first four months. Word of mouth will likely determine the resort’s future from there. If fans experiencing the hotel in real life react as poorly as they have online, it’s only a matter of time before changes will need to be made.

Time will tell if Disney decides to cut another preview for the resort or keeps things close to the vest until the grand opening. It’s also possible that some changes are already being made due to the negative reaction. Fans will be able to find out for themselves this spring.
