Joe Gorga recently tried his hand at standup comedy. The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star recently performed at the Governor’s Comedy Club in New York City. By the end, his embarrassed wife was dragging him off the stage.
Gorga’s jokes were not well-received by the crowd. Joe tried to set up a joke with a story, but became incoherent. It also wasn’t funny. Jeers began to came from the crowd, according to TMZ.
Just when it looked like the audience was going to politely let him finish, he repeated the same line he’d said all night. “Are you guys ready?” was not considered A-material. There was never a punchilne to be ready for.
Joe eventually started swearing at the crowd. That’s when they turned on him. One of his friends tried to get him off the stage, but he refused. His wife, Melissa Gorga, finally got him to step down.
Comedy is a tough business, and it sounds like Joe and Melissa have forgiven the fans. It has to be uncomfortable to lose the crowd when you’re expected to entertain them. Tonight just wasn’t Joe Gorga’s night.
Mike Martocci, Gorga’s manager, says that his client was sick that day. He said he took Sudafed and then drank a couple of scotches. Right when he went on stage, it hit him. Joe returned the next night to make fun of his failure at the same club.
