Common has dated several famous women throughout his career but still didn’t find “the one.” His dating history incudes Erykah Badu, Serena Williams, Taraji P. Henson and Angela Rye. Most recently he had a breakup with Tiffany Haddish.
The Chicago rapper dated comedian Tiffany Haddish for over a year. Historically speaking, one year is a long time in the Common dating timeline. On November this year, the pair decided to call it quits.
On Fox Soul, Common recently spoke out about the reason behind their break up. According to him, their respective careers simply didn’t allow them enough time and energy to “feed” their relationship. Once the COVID-19 lockdown lifted, their different lines didn’t allow much opportunity to stay involved in each other’s life.
“Once Tiffany and I got back on the move, it really didn’t allow for us to spend as much time and put as much energy into our relationship. I don’t think the love really dispersed; I just think we weren’t feeding the relationship. Neither one of us is going to stop! We both care about our crafts and what we do. And we care about love, too, and partnership, but I think the energy that has been put into our careers and continuing to want to do the things that we do for ourselves and for the people, it was harder for me to balance all of that and keep the relationship fed.”
Common didn’t want to be one foot in, one foot out. Despite going their separate ways, Common still has a lot of love for Tiffany Haddish. He pointed out that they had a healthy and loving relationship.
“Tiffany, for me, is one of the best people I’ve met in life — one of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I’ve met. And that’s what made me love her and be in love with her and want to be in a relationship with her and grow with her. We had a real healthy and loving — it probably was the most mature relationship I have been in, meaning the communication, the respect… all around, man.”
Common really admires the maturity with which the break up was dealt. He acknowledges Tiffany as one of the best souls that walked into his life. His interview with Fox Soul Hollywood Unlocked is provided at the end of this article.
