Tom Brady has shared his thoughts on the untimely passing of former NFL wideout Demariyus Thomas. Thomas passed away at the age of 33 on December 9, 2021. While the two never played on the same team, they competed head-to-head many times over Thomas’ decorated ten-year career. In 2019, he signed with the Patriots, but never played for the team. He was traded to the New York Jets for a draft pick.
Brady stated he was saddened by the news about his friend. He touted Thomas’ humility and positivity and said he will be missed by the NFL family. Tom also shared a picture of the two at the NFL Hall of Fame ceremony from this past August.
“Im so sad to wake up this morning to hear about the passing of my friend Demariyus Thomas. We were all blessed with his humility and positive spirit, and we will all miss him. This photo is from the Hall of Fame this past August, a source of light as always. RIP”
Thomas was best known for his stint with the Denver Broncos. There, he won a Super Bowl alongside legendary quarterback Peyton Manning. He tallied an incredible 9,753 receiving yards and 63 touchdowns during his time in the league.
In addition to being a Super Bowl champion, Demariyus Thomas was a four-time Pro Bowl selection. He was voted second team All Pro in 2013 and 2014. In college, he was an all-ACC performer for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2009.
While the circumstances of his passing are unknown currently, his tragic death has touched the entire NFL community. Tom Brady and many other players considered him a fan. Our condolences go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Demariyus Thomas.
