The 2018 film Black Panther featured Michael B. Jordan as the antagonist for the film, Killmonger and Chadwick Boseman as the titular character Black Panther. For many fans, he was a very well-written villain with proper character motivations and depth that was rarely seen in Marvel movies back then.
Despite the unfortunate passing of the late Chadwick Boseman, Marvel has decided that they will be proceeding with Black Panther 2. While many actors from the first film will be appearing in the sequel film, Michael B. Jordan is unlikely to.
While speaking to TMZ, Chadwick Boseman’s rother Derrick Boseman stated that he does think T’Challa needs to live on in the ‘Black Panther’ franchise. He also believes the role should be recast.
Derrick said he believes his sibling would’ve wanted this too, adding that Chadwick thought T’Challa was bigger than just himself as one person.
Derrick says there aren’t a whole lot of positive influences for young black children these days, which is why having T’Challa recast would be the best way to go. It was said that Marvel will never replace Boseman as Black Panther. So it remains to be seen whether he will be recast or not.
