Odell Beckham Jr. is the latest athlete to test positive for COVID-19. As case counts continue, major sports leagues in the United States have begun to cancel or postpone numerous games. The NBA is fighting an uptick in viral spread as well. The Chicago Bulls have 10 players currently in COVID protocol.
Beckham isn’t the only Los Angeles Rams player to test positive for COVID. Jalen Ramsey missed the December 13 Monday night game with the virus. There will likely be others on the team to follow, given their proximity in the locker room. Josina Anderson reported the news via Twitter.
“I’m told #Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr. has tested positive for COVID19, per league source.”
The situation is beginning to get dire for the NFL. Adam Schefter reported that a record 37 positive cases were recorded on Monday. There are 25 additional tests expected to come back positive today. The league should be concerned about the future of the season if the outbreaks aren’t brought under control.
“After a record 37 positive COVID tests Monday, results still are being finalized but more than 25 additional positives are expected today, per source.”
The Rams have instituted a complete shutdown at their training facility. The idea is to stop the spread, but there are likely other players and team staff who have already contracted the virus. They take on the Seattle Seahawks this weekend and will need all healthy hands on deck.
