The New Mexico police obtained search warrants to continue investigating the ‘Rust’ incident. Baldwin was jokingly shooting a prop gun, which led to the death of 42-year old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Ever since then, police is investigating the death.
The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department said that they will follow any leads relating to Hutchins and anything involving her demise. Their aim is to collect as much evidence as they can find to it being an accidental case. The affidavit says:
Affiant is requesting a warrant for the seizure and search of Alec Baldwins’ [sic] cell phone to search for any evidence relating to the death investigation of Halyna Hutchins. Affiant believes there may be evidence on the phone, due to individuals using cellular phones during and/or after the commission of crime(s).
Alec Baldwin has not been subject to any charges, as the Bonanza Creek Ranch shooting is seen completely accidental and an unexpected event in the nature. The actor co-operates with authorities to the best of his capacity.
The veteran actor was emotionally hurt after the event, even saying that his career stands sidelined as he processes his grief over the event. Baldwin has claimed that if he felt he was the one responsible for Hutchins’ death, he’d have committed suicide.
The investigation is focusing on the bullet found in Baldwin’s gun, while it was supposed to be empty. The 63-year old actor has himself called for the investigation, as whoever has led to the incident shall be held responsible.
