Urban Meyer was hired as the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars so that he could help them win championships. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite go the way the team had hoped. It seems he has been fired as well.
The 57-year-old college coaching legend signed a lucrative 5 year contract with the Jaguars a few months ago. However, his tenure spelled nothing but disaster for the team. That’s why he was fired after only 13 games.
Under his tenure, the Jaguars started the year 2-11, which is the worst record in the entire NFL. According to TMZ, Meyer blamed everyone but himself for the incessant losing.
He also isn’t without his own fair share of controversies. Back in October, after his teams 4th loss, he was caught dancing with another woman in a bar.
Jaguars owner Shad Khan, the man behind the decision, issued a statement on Meyer’s firing to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone.
I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen.”
It is not known what is next in store for Urban Meyer, but it definitely will not have anything to do with the Jacksonville Jaguars ever again.
