Lawrence Taylor is no stranger to controversies and serving time in prison. The NFL legend has once again found himself behind bars. This time he has been booked on charges of sex offender violations.
Police arrested Lawrence Taylor in Florida Thursday (December 16), according to TMZ. Taylor, 62, was booked at 8:45 PM (eastern time) but was released after several hours.
“Lawrence Taylor has been compliant with all of the rules and regulations regarding his legal status for the past decade,” his attorney Arthur Adiala said. “Sadly he is in the middle of a divorce and his local police department suggested it would be best if he slept at a nearby hotel.”
He continued to say, “Mr. Taylor was constantly a resident of the marital home where he was registered, but on advice of local law enforcement he was sleeping outside the home. We are confident that this will be dismissed at the first court hearing.”
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office says Taylor was booked on charges on sex offender violations. A court declared him sex offender in 2011. At the time, the former New York Giants player had pleaded guilty to patronizing a sex worker.
