Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone had its 20th birthday, and the cast of the cinematic fantasy blockbuster series re-united to celebrate the event. With the HBO Max special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts on its way, fans want to know if there’s a possibility for more content involving the stars.
Rupert Grint, who is famous for his role as the gullible yet courageous Ron Weasley, thinks that there might be something to the reunion. He is of the opinion it would not do justice to the character developments of everyone involved. Grint talked to CBR where he discussed this topic.
It’s not something I go back and think about much. It’s only recently, now that it’s been 20 years since the first movie, those conversations have started.
Grint said that it has been 10 years since the last Harry Potter film came out, and the time in between has changed his perspective. He added that while the reunion is fun, newer projects are a possibility he “exactly” does not know about.
It’s great to see everyone again, it’s very nostalgic, these films were a huge part of my life and I’m fond of everyone. But I think it ended at the right time, it was a long time, and it was great fun, and I think … It’s been 10 years since we shot the last one. I have a new perspective, I can appreciate it for what it is, a mad, enormously fun time. As far as another movie, I don’t know. I don’t know, exactly. I love that character, I feel very connected to him, so yeah, I don’t know.
Harry Potter has made for a highly profitable franchise in the fantasy epics genre. The series of novels were the brain child of J.K Rowling. The original series spanned over the course of 8 movies.
While the series also received a spin-off series called Fantastic Beasts, it also entered the world of theatre with the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Mads Mikkelsen recently replaced Johnny Depp.
