Legendary MMA fighter, Chael Sonnen, was cited for battery in Las Vegas last night. Sonnen, who showcased some of the best fighting techniques throughout his mixed martial arts career, apparently handled himself quite well during what occurred in Vegas, witnesses say.

According to TMZ, police who responded to the incident, did not arrest Sonnen, but detained him. They did cite him on 5 counts of assault though – misdemeanors, apparently.

Witnesses stated that they saw Sonnen banging on the door of a particular hotel room at the Four Seasons in Las Vegas. A couple suddenly emerged onto the scene witnesses say, and that’s when the fight broke out.

According to these reports, the fight was one-sided, quite obviously in Sonnen’s favor, and the woman screamed as the brutalities got underway. Witnesses state that the reason for the fight remained unclear throughout the incident.

The police that responded to the call did not witness any of the fight and violence, but still cited the ex-MMA fighter on the aforementioned 5 counts of misdemeanor battery allegations.

Sonnen was then led away in handcuffs, but as stated, was not placed under arrest. The reasons behind this are now being investigated by Las Vegas police. The moment we get news on what occurred, we’ll keep you posted.
