Kanye West has a big heart and he has shown this side of him many times. Recently, he chose to do give back to his hometown this holiday season.
Ye donated almost 4,000 toys that were given out at a toy drive in Englewood, Chicago. With Christmas on it’s way next week, Alderman Stephanie Coleman described Kanye as “Our modern day Santa Claus.”
Coleman told to ABC7, she is very proud of Kanye for responding to their calls for help. She added, “He is no stranger to our community. His presence has always been felt in our neighborhoods and he loves visiting, but this Christmas he has truly been our modern-day Santa Claus.”
The toy drive was held inside the Kennedy King College’s gymnasium. People were also treated with food, games and prizes while they received their toys at the event.
West’s eagerness to give back isn’t exclusive to Chicago. Last month, Kanye exchanged ideas with the CEO of the homeless charity in L.A. , Reverend Troy Vaughn, to alleviate the homelessness situation in L.A.
Kanye dropped off 1000 meals to L.A Mission and decided to use this platform and Sunday Service to raise awareness on this issue. Additionally, Kanye and Drake joined hands to do the Free Larry Hoover Benefit concert at the L.A Coliseum.
