Jay-Z is one of those rappers whose songs have a lasting impression on his followers. Jigga is a rap icon in the eyes of his fans, but he hasn’t stepped on the Verzuz stage. The rap icon recently claimed that nobody can stand up against him on that stage, but Lil Jon, on the other hand, has a different idea.
Jay-Z was in Alicia Keys’ Twitter spaces chat on Tuesday, December 21. He claimed that “No one can stand on that stage with me. It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me.” To that Lil Jon passionately replied that Busta Rhymes can easily beat Jay-Z in a Verzuz battle, “BUSTA WILL SMOKE [smoke emoji] JAY Z [popcorn emoji].”
It’s also obvious that Fat Joe respects Lil Jon’s opinion and would likely agree with him. In September, the Terror Squad leader claimed that other rappers are too afraid to face off with Bus-A-Bus, including himself. J Cruz, a radio host, chimed in on the discussion on Hollywood Unlocked and highlighted out some points.
“Fat Joe scared to do Verzuz with Busta Rhymes and so is everybody else. You gotta understand, sometimes you ever notice, you seen boxers and they knock everybody out? People be scared to fight those boxers. Busta Rhymes is gonna outrap, outperform anybody who goes up in a Verzuz with him. That’s a fact.”
“Yo, Busta Rhymes nobody wanna get in there with you, man. You might have to be an honorary — they gotta give you the check for no reason.”
“Doing a verzuz has become a fear in many careers, even Hov knows there still a small chance the people will not choose him. Since the Nas battle he swore off the peoples vote.”
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland established Verzuz in 2020 as a solution to alleviate quarantine blues. It has subsequently evolved from an Instagram Live show to full-fledged performances in venues such as Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater and the Hollywood Palladium.
It will certainly be intriguing to see Busta Rhymes and Jay-Z square off. Let’s see if this goes in a different direction or not.
