Texas rapper, Chucky Trill, was shot and killed early Friday morning along Interstate 85 South near Jimmy Carter Boulevard. A man suspected of fatally shooting the Texas rapper was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Gwinnett County police are further investigating the crash.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office said authorities arrested James Edwards Thomas, who faces malice murder and aggravated assault charges in the death of Corey Detiege, also known as rapper Chucky Trill. Multiple law enforcement officials put Thomas into custody as he exited a plane. He’s at Gwinnett County Jail without bond, officials say.
It’s still unclear if or why Detiege was targeted. There were other people in the vehicle, police said. Officers arrived at the scene about 15 miles northeast of Atlanta around 3 a.m. to find 33-year-old Corey Detiege shot. Medics rushed him to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Detiege was in town for a virtual performance as part of the NBA All-Star weekend, his manager confirmed to FOX 5 Atlanta. His agent said the rapper had been making a name for himself in the Houston area.
Bun B remembered his friend and fellow Texas rapper on Instagram.
“Damn. This was a good man. Humble. Hard working. Loyal. Determined. Focused. And he had the talent. Queen saw him and told @boneafied ‘That boy is good.’ If he don’t have a manager you should do it.’ And he did, putting everything he had in it. We are heartbroken this morning and send our deepest condolences to D, Bone and all of his family, friends and supporters. Buy or stream his music and let’s keep his memory alive. #RIPChuckyTrill”
Lately there have been a bunch of homicides, especially with music artists. People have to now question the security in their country. This inhumane display of people should be immediately stopped to prevent any further such incidents.
