Hollywood productions regularly include huge budgets for wardrobe. Studios want the stars they pay big money to hire looking their best on TV or the big screen. Every so often they stray from that formula with varying measures of success.

Sex and the City has always been a show that prided itself on high fashion. The series’ cast of sophisticated women in New York City lends itself perfectly to trendsetting. Fans expected the same when it came time to reboot the show.

And Just Like That…” picks up the story of Sex and the City where the original series and movies left off. That means that Carrie and friends are older and wiser. Page Six has reported that a costume designer for the show recently revealed that one of Sarah Jessica Parker’s most iconic looks from the new series cost only $5.

“He bought it many years ago for $5 or $6. We later learned that Forever 21 did have a [very similar] dress, but knocked off something from an Indian designer. Given how long Danny had the dress, we think it was probably from the original designer.”

The quirky dress quickly became a favorite talking point for fans of the show. Designer Danny Santiago said the dress came from the star’s private thrift store collection. It has since gone viral among fans.

There is nobody more aware of what Carrie Bradshaw would wear in her later years than Sarah Jessica Parker herself. She took her years of experience in the role and offered up a look that is making waves and getting people talking. It’s always nice to see showrunners allowing actors to give their character a little personal touch.
