Magic Johnson was the Lakers’ first-round pick (first overall) in the 1979 NBA Draft, making him the franchise’s first-ever overall number one pick. Now fans are witnessing Magic Johnson had some doubt regarding the Lakers series. Johnson stated that The HBO showtime Lakers series is not something he looking forward to.

Johnson claims he won’t be watching HBO’s “Showtime” Lakers series. He says “not looking forward to it,” according to TMZ Sports. “Winning Time: The Rise Of The Lakers Dynasty,” starring John C. Reilly, Sally Field, and Jason Segel, is a much-anticipated new drama series about the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers’ professional and personal life.

While the majority of people are looking forward to seeing the show, Magic isn’t one of them, stating that he’s working on his own project.

“No, we got different shows coming out. I got one, then you got Jeanie Buss got one on Showtime coming out. Those are the ones I’m looking forward to.”

Magic, along with fellow NBA luminaries Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy, helped lead the “Showtime” Lakers to five NBA titles in the 1980s. Johnson’s Lakers have been lauded throughout time for their impact on the league and for cultivating an up-tempo, fast-paced style of play.

However, Magic is sure that he is not pleased with the HBO project’s premiere, saying, “It’s not something I’m looking forward to. That’s all I’m going to say about it.”

This show still has a ton of hype and plenty of fans can’t wait to see how true to reality they will keep things. The series will be released in March, but Magic will not be reviewing it.
