Dune is a 2021 American epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve which is actually titled onscreen as Dune: Part One. Primarily it is covering the first half of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert. It is in plan of two-part adaptation.
A newly-revealed behind-the-scenes image from Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic Dune shows Lady Jessica holding a knife to Paul Atreides’ throat. With Dune: Part 2 to begin shooting in July 2022. It indeed came as a big relief to Villeneuve and all involved with Dune when the movie did well enough at the box office for Warner Bros.
After that Villeneuve hopes to continue delving deeper into Dune lore by adapting the second novel in the Dune series, Dune Messiah, to round out a full Dune trilogy. Unfortunately, the one thing fans shouldn’t hold their breath for is a Dune director’s cut. Even though Jason Momoa himself has called for one, Villeneuve has promised that there will never be such a version.
Dune star Rebecca Ferguson indeed has revealed some of one deleted scene that she especially hopes gets to see the light of day. In a happy birthday message to co-star Timothee Chalamet, the Lady Jessica actress posted a BTS image of the deleted scene. It shows her character holding a knife to Paul Atreides’ throat.
The deleted scene teased by Ferguson’s image involves Lady Jessica instructing Paul in the ways of knife fighting, a skill that of course comes in handy for him later in the film when he takes on the Fremen warrior Jamis. However, for whatever reason Villeneuve elected to leave the scene out of the final cut of the movie.
This cut was possibly done because of timing reasons or Villeneuve just felt that there were enough scenes of Paul being instructed in various skills and things were starting to get repetitive. While there may never be a Dune director’s cut there is obviously still a chance that deleted scenes could one day make their way out to the public. You can check out the photo below.
