Anderson Silva is considered one of the greatest fighters in MMA history for good reason. He went up against many top names in the MMA world when he used to be active. After his release from UFC last year, Silva hasn’t been quiet and is not finished in combat sports at all.
The Spider recently squared off against Tito Ortiz on September 11 at Triller Club in his second boxing match. Similar to his first one, Anderson Silva displayed immense skill and technique.
So much so, that he knocked out Tito Ortiz within the first round in just 81 seconds. Silva also previously noted that he doesn’t rule out facing off against Jake Paul in a boxing match.
While speaking on The Weekly Scraps Podcast, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling talked about Anderson Silva possibly squaring off against Jake Paul. Sterling made it clear that he believes Jake Paul can legitimately hurt Anderson Silva.
“I know Anderson Silva was supposedly a frontrunner for a matchup with him, who’s also like what, 45 [years old]? If Jake can legitimately connect, I think he would actually hurt Anderson. But I do feel Anderson’s still got the skills, an actual boxing skill-set, where he can probably piece him up a bit. But I think, Paul, same thing [as the Tyron Woodley fights] – he’s going to fight a smaller guy. He’s going to tie him up, lean on him a little bit.
And I think that could be a factor because he’s a young guy. He knows how to grab you. He did that so many times against Woodley; it was like, so annoying. I was like, ‘Yo, these guys clinched probably 30 times in the first five rounds.’ And that just kills pretty much the entire fight. So now with this one, it’s like, Silva’s got hands. We know Silva’s got hands. The only thing is can he take a shot? I don’t think he really can. But there’s only one way to find out. I just don’t wanna see no more MMA legends getting laid out.”
Dana White also guaranteed Anderson Silva will never fight Jake Paul. While Dana White seems confident, it is ultimately up to Jake Paul whether he wants to face off against Anderson Silva or not. So it remains to be seen if that match ever happens or not.
